The princip of this technology, first implemented in Sweden in the 1980s by FAFCO, is to use the energy of the air and the energy of the sun to heat your home, your swimming pool and your hot water.
Our solar panels convert the sun’s rays into heat with an efficiency of 95%. As they are not insulated from the ambient atmosphere, they are cooled by the surrounding air.
Hence the idea of keeping them cold: by circulating a cooler fluid inside than the outside air, the collector losses are not only reduced, they become negative! This means that the collector absorbs more than 95% of the sun’s rays, and is also warmed by the surrounding air.
It is the heat pump that draws heat from the liquid circulating in the collectors and thus cools it. The heat drawn by the heat pump is then transferred to your hot water to heat it up to the desired temperature!
The sources of heat are therefore the atmosphere (atmos) and the sun (solar), which is the secret of our atmosolar collectors. For maximum efficiency and minimum cost! The energy consumption will be divided by 3 or more depending on the use of the heat produced!
Reducing the size of refrigeration groups and many equipment, and therefore capital costs.
The atmosolar system allows you to produce 100% of your needs for hot water and heating with only 30% electricity: the rest of the heat comes from the sun and the ambient air!
This reduces the electricity subscription, as well as maintenance and renewal costs: FAFCO solar panels have a maintenance-free service life of 25 years.
The liquid used to transfer heat from the collectors to the heat pump is a simple mixture of water and antifreeze. Harmless, low-polluting, cheap, it is available everywhere!
FAFCO sensors are entirely manufactured and assembled in Chevigny-Saint Sauveur, to guarantee quality, safety and respect for the environment and people. The plastic tubes that make them up are manufactured by low-temperature extrusion and 90% of the plastic waste is recycled on site.
Solar energy and air energy are inexhaustible renewable energies, so the use of FAFCO collectors helps to reduce our impact on the environment.
Atmosolar sensors cannot overheat in the sun. They are therefore very safe and require a minimum of accessories. Non-toxic, removable, repairable and replaceable, they have an exemplary life cycle.
The Myrha project was carried out in Paris thanks to a coupled system of our atmosolar panels and heat pumps.
Fafco carried out the entire heating installation for a house with 5 apartments.
The installation consists of :
- 12 external polypropylene heat exchangers, for a total surface area of 60 m².
- 2 heat pumps with a power of 18kW each
- All the hydraulic connections between the exchangers, the heat pumps and the heating network + DHW storage tank.
- Circulation pumps for the catchment loop
- The steam traps
The first step was to build the hydraulic circuit of the system (see figure on the right).
The second stage was the delivery of all the equipment, fittings, control cabinet and other accessories for the correct operation of the installation.
The third step was the installation of the atmosolar collectors on the roof of the building.
The last step was to install the heat pumps, storage tanks, and control system in the basement of the building.
